Day 9
Last night Hannah only required one feeding through her feeding tube. The only problem with this is that it resets the time required for her to go home. You see, she has to go a full 48 hours of feeding from the breast or the bottle without receiving a feeding through her feeding tube. So, the 48-hour countdown was reset at 3:00 a.m. (MST) today (Monday). That means, the earliest she can go home is Wednesday morning, but we were already planning on that anyway. We and the nurses believe she will be successful at doing this and believe in her ability so much that the feeding tube was removed today! If she does need it, it's easy to put one back in, but the nurses don't think she'll need it anymore. We also brought the car seat in to the hospital so the nurses can perform a "car seat test" where they place her in the car seat for 90 minutes and monitor her oxygen while she's in there. In fact, as I write this, she's probably sleeping in the car seat. As for her feedings today, she fed from the breast for at least 15 minutes each time, so it's looking good.
